Hello again

A week later than I had intended. here's a selection of pix I took on last Saturday's NENTA train tour to Llangollen via Shrewsbury. Enjoy, and please, as always, leave your comments.

Note that the pix appear in reverse order - I must work out a way of making them appear chronologically!

Who's there?

That's right - Who...Doctor Who!

All this made possible thanks to the very latest time travel technology...

Nenta Evening Meal

Table set for dinner, but there's just time to take in another critical message from base...

Meanwhile,

Tomato and Basil Soup for starters - lots of basil, and no chicken stock here! Very nice too.

I lost the pic of my deliciously scrummy main course (gorgonzola & chestnut tart with fresh vegetables of the day) , but take a look at this - chef's totally wicked home-made apple pie!

And then our return to Shrewsbury

Safely back by coach at Shrewsbury station

there's time to take a quick look round...

Is this marvellous building the library?

This is the castle - pity we didn't have time to explore further...

Back at the station, who knows which platform the Norwich train will leave from?

25 minutes early - the Nenta special appears at Platform 4

So most climb aboard...

but I take a quick peek at the impressive signal box just visible from the far end of the platform

Back at Llangollen

Just opposite the car park, a tea shop!

And next to it, a chance to pick up a bargain...

At your convenience, just before the coach trip back to Shrewsbury...

But hang on, an important message is just coming in...

LLangollen railway - Carrog

25 minutes from Llangollen, this quaint little place...

It's called Carrog

LLangollen railway by steam

Several engines run along this line - here's a serious diesel

And there's a fair bit of stock in various states of restoration

An intermediate stopping point:

Some amazing scenery in this part of North Wales...

And if you look carefully, you might just see the footbridge leading from the railway line across the river to a hotel

Llangollen Railway station

Just by the river on the north side of Llangollen town centre, this magnificent sight...

...while another of the Nenta team decides to savour chef's home-made brunch special - steak slice - very nice too!

Another great day out by rail

Hello and thanks for visiting the blog. I have uploaded a selection of pix I took yesterday (Saturday 31st) on our trip from Norwich to Bath and Bristol.

It was a long day for some - 0520 departure from North Walsham, 0603 from Norwich, returning to Norwich at 0133 and finally arriving in North Walsham at about 0210 - but a good time appeared to be had by all.

Enjoy the pix - and remember to leave your comments!

Until the next time....
